The brainchild of Nils Brakchi, Mofosteel uses a wide range of influences from classic motown and gangsta hip hop, to british new wave, country and even gospel – all culminating in a skillfully crafted collection of pop songs.
Brakchi, accompanied by a group of very diverse musicians, utilizes this varied influences to tell his listener a story in a manner that tugs at your heartstrings while simultaneously suggesting a dance. Created soon after his departure from danish grammy nominee Fielfraz in 2004, Brakchi, keen to continue the success he had sampled as a bass player with the band, set out to begin a musical career, as a soloist.
Interestingly, solo songwriting had never before been his focus, and the resulting album is an eclectic, mismatch of genre that blends together and provides the listener with a new sultry pop sound.
The self titled and forthcoming debut album is a collection of songs that invite the audience to pine for secret loves, reminisce on lost loves and serenades the listener with velvet storytelling over a soothing soundtrack.
As a vocalist, Brakchi’s dark voice lends a certain depth to the songs; sometimes playful, sometimes plaintive but always smooth, Mofosteel is easy to listen to and even easier to become addicted to. Mofosteel performs regularly in and around Copenhagen, to the delight of an ever growing fan-base.
